Becoming more sustainable in your business can be challenging. Where do you start?
We have spent the last decade learning, educating and forming trade partnerships with some of the industry leading suppliers of sustainable materials, so we can help businesses large and small become more sustainable.
We begin every business relationship with a consultation to review your current printing and packaging requirements as well as understanding how you should best proceed. We fully understand that budget maybe an issue for some, which is why we can offer a full packaging audit that compares your current packaging requirements with various options to become more sustainable.
”We are always happy to chat with businesses about becoming more sustainable, so call us if you have a question”.
Just a few of our most frequently asked questions about sustainable print and packaging.
In an ideal world yes, but plastic still has vital uses in our day to day lives so a complete ban would be devastating. Unfortunately we don’t have alternatives for all the uses of plastic, however there are 2 things we can do now to help slow down the production of plastic until we find a sustainable solution for all.
The first is to re use where possible. There are somethings that we just currently can’t replace which is why we need to re use certain packaging where possible to decrease the amount of new single use plastic that needs to be made.
The second is to cut down on the amount of single use plastic used. This can be identifying the frivolous use of single use plastic and finding an alternative or just simply cutting down on the amount of plastic used. “Freebies” are often given away by companies to consumers, that in many cases are just thrown away. This is just one example of a frivolous use of packaging that also needs a sustainable solution.
This is a tricky one and it all depends on the business and the use. Currently there is no single best packaging solution as it really does depend on how the packaging will be used. One thing that we will say is that the more natural, the better, which is always our focus when finding solutions.
The main difference between the two is that they are both at different points of the life-cycle. Renewable means that the materials used are able to be replenished whilst recycled means the material can be processed and reused for either the same purpose or a different one.
Some products can be both, for example paper that is manufactured from FSC trees.
The answer is yes, but some do behave like usual plastics in that they are non-biodegradable.
The materials in which they are made are from plants rather than fossil fuels, that ultimately make them renewable. Whilst not completely sustainable, it is a better alternative to the typical single use plastic.
